  • Xanga, I have not abandoned you!

Not entirely anyway.  Just can't seem to stop Facebooking, that's all.  Darn that Bejeweled Blitz.

Anywho, I have been incredibly busy lately.  Lots going on.  Last weekend I went to Destin, FL with Ali and Leslie for some relaxing and shopping.  It was awesome, and a welcome break from the yucky rain and cloudys that have taken over Dallas for the past two weeks.  Got some good sun...maybe a little TOO much sun.  Had some good drinks and got to visit a nice outlet mall.  All in all, good trip.  (I'll put the pics on Facebook later this week.)

This week I am trying to cram for my CFMP exam (that's Certified Financial Marketing Profession for you non-bank-geeks out there.)  The exam is Tuesday, and I started REALLY studying last Thursday (oops).  I think a lot of it will draw from material I learned in college/grad school, but there is just no way to get past memorizing all the important banking legislation from the past century or so.  Blarg.  So this weekend will be spent working (on Saturday) and studying all day Sunday.

After the exam is over, I'll be attending year two of ABA Bank Marketing School next Wednesday thru the following Monday.  I graduate this year, so yay!  Completed my uber-long research paper and all my pre-session assignments, so as long as all the in-class assignments go well, I am in the clear.  Too bad I'll have classes all weekend though.  That's two lost weekends in a row.  Sadness.

Once all of that is over with, I will begin studying for the Series 7 (General Securities Representative) exam. That one scares the bejeezus outta me, but I'll take it one day at a time.

Hope all is well.  Catch ya later!

  • I am pooped

Man, it seems like I have just been going strong for weeks now.  I need a nice, two-day nap.  Maybe this weekend.

Last weekend was so tiring.  Friday night after work, we drove down to Lufkin to help my granparents pack up all their belongings and move to Tennessee to live with one of my uncles.  It's sad to see them sell the house that I have been going to since I was born.  It was also weird to pack up 70+ years of belongings they have collected.  Weird and exhausting.  Somehow, 80% of it actually fit into one large Uhaul and one small Uhaul.  The rest is sitting in the carport until my uncle and dad can sort through it all and get the important stuff packed away.  My mamaw did give us some cool stuff, including another one of her paintings and my great grandmother's antique side table.

Bobby came up from Galveston to help, too.  My grandparents decided to leave out Saturday night and try to drive halfway to Tennessee, so Paul, Bobby and I ended up getting a hotel room in Lufkin.  We were so sore and tired, I think we could have slept in the front yard and been fine, but the Hampton Inn was nice and comfy.

Got home Sunday evening and were pretty much worthless.  It was good to see our puppies though.  Mom kept them for just two days, but I swear Jake got bigger again.  Tomorrow is his 16-week birthday.  He was 14.5 pounds on Monday...that means he should be at least a 30-pound dog, if not bigger.  We shall see!

Guess that's all I know.  Later peeps!

  • Good weekend.

Had an enjoyable weekend.  Friday night we trekked to Rosa's (yummmm) with the old Tech crowd and rounded out the Lubbock-esque evening with a trip to Bahama Bucks.  I had a new flavor combo:  Strawberry Cheesecake and Wedding Cake with Cream.  DELISH.  And only 6 WW points!  I heart shaved ice.  Played some Trivial Pursuit, and despite being ahead most of the game I lost it all in the lightning round.  Blarg.

Saturday we had a super-fun, if not slightly too long, day.  We went to lunch at Saltgrass and went to see "He's Just Not That Into You", which was waaaaay cute and I must own it on DVD.  Afterwards we went to Downtown Grapevine and hit up several wineries before having dinner at Ferrari's Italian Villa. It was a wino kinda day.    Then Valentino had a midnight show at Lone Star, so we finished up the night there.  We had been drinking for nearly 11 hours, so needless to say, we crashed hard afterwards.

Sunday was a pretty chill day.  Went to mom's (a.k.a. the puppysitter) to get Franklin and Jake.  They had a good time frolicking in her yard, and we took them on a nice walk through her trails around lake and whatnot.  It was so pretty outside.  Then we went to Top Golf...always a good time...and Mike and Paul and I determined that we need to franchise a Top Golf in Frisco.  We could be insanely rich.

Monday, after a fun-filled trip to the eye doctor and a brief stint at the mall, I worked on my practice cake for Jos and Drew's enagement party cake.  Wanted to make sure I don't FUBAR it when crunch time comes, so I make a small 6" tier to work out the kinks.  I am not too worried.  It came out cute.  Also made Paul's mom a very belated b-day cake.  Paul decided to go up to Lubbock for a few days, so he is going to give her a belated b-day party.

Not much else new.  I got the Jillian Michael's game for Wii, and I am sooo sore.  I only did it for 15 minutes on Saturday, but man, doing a lot of squats after you haven't been to the gym in three weeks is DEADLY.  I must do it again tonight.  The games are slightly more fun than just doing a bunch of repetitive exercizes.  It's stuff like running though tires and jumping on logs.  So far, Wii Fit games seem more gameish, but I am still liking it.  Gotta get beach-ready by April 30!!!  Eeeek!

  • Well it seems that our household has defeated the flu.  Paul had it pretty bad last week and even had to cancel the Valentino show Saturday, but I think as of yesterday we are pretty much well.  Thank goodness.

In other news, Paul got a new job.  He is going to be a Help Desk IT guy at an engineering/construction firm.  He is glad to be out of apartments.  He doesn't start the new job for another week and a half.  In the meantime he is enjoying a two-week vacation.  Lucky.

Hmmm, what else.  Today is Jake's 13 week birthday.  He is finally bulking up...I will have to weigh him tonight, but I suspect that he is up to around 12 pounds now.  His paws are growing, and it looks as if he still has quite a ways to go toward becoming a big dog.  Time will tell.

Guess that's about all I know.  Ready for Friday.

    Later peeps.

  • 95%

I'd say I am 95% back to normal.  Yay!  I can finally get a full night's sleep without coughing half to death.  Poor Paulie is still recovering, but I think our household is on the mend.

In other news, Jake is now up to 8 pounds.  Whew!  I need to post some new pics...he's getting big!  Although I'm still not sure he'll be the 50 pounder the shelter thought he would.  He's still pretty small for three months old.  They say at four months old, you can double a puppy's weight to estimate their full-grown weight.  So on March 4 he'll be 16 weeks and we should be able to get a better idea.

Looking forward to the weekend and having some time off that I won't want to spend in bed.  Valentino plays tomorrow night at Opening Bell....this time the Southside location I believe.  Everyone should come!

    Later taters.
